Frequently Asked Questions

The application process and application form for all applicants is exactly the same. UCD staff apply via ESS so as to link their job application to their details in the HR system. In addition some UCD vacancies are open only to applications from UCD staff or 'internal applicants'. These vacancies are listed and can be applied for only via ESS (Employee Self Services).

If you are a non EU/ EEA citizen applying for a position, please refer to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation website. If your application is found to be ineligible, a member of the HR Resourcing Team will return your application to you.

This depends on a number of elements ( e.g. how soon the board can convene to review applications or the number of applications received). A member of the UCD HR Resourcing Team will contact you as soon as we have received confirmation from the board of assessors (interviewers for the post).

The HR Resourcing Administrator will contact you to advise you of the proposed interview date and confirm interview details by email. If you are either shortlisted or not shortlisted, an email will be issued to the email address provided on your application form.

If a vacancy is not listed on the search page, this maybe due to one of two reasons:
  • The vacancy has closed and will therefore automatically be removed from the vacancy listings.
  • The vacancy is advertised as ‘internal only’, therefore will only appear when searching through UCD Employee Self Service (ESS).
