Day-to-day change on COVID-19 infection rates in Ireland

Friday, 15 May, 2020

The attached dynamic map attempts to show the spread of the virus by looking at the day-to-day changes in the rate of infection since March 16th. The size of the symbol indicates the change and the label indicates the overall rate. While the overall rate is highest in Dublin you can see that the rate of change from one day to another is relatively small. Other counties (often with lower populations) experience dramatic changes that last for short time periods. In general the map indicates that the restrictions on movement have slowed the spread of the virus generally but that it now appears as 'clusters' in different places.
