UCD’s Global Engagement strategy includes five overseas Global Centres, and the UAE Centre is strategically placed to serve one of the most dynamic and diverse regions across the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan.
The Dubai-based Global Centre serves as a regional hub—building long-term partnerships across academia, research, government, industry, civil society and community, supporting the University’s global ambitions and strategy.
Established in 2018 in Dubai’s education hub – Dubai Knowledge Park, the UCD Middle East, Africa & Pakistan Global Centre has grown significantly to become one of UCD’s most active regional hubs. What began in 2018 with a team of two has expanded to a dynamic team of 7 professionals today, based in Dubai and Lagos.
The Centre has played a pivotal role in connecting UCD with higher education institutions, sponsors, government bodies, agents and students across the region. The Centre processes applications from over 70 countries, with continued growth in applications and student numbers since 2018. In September 2025, we welcomed over 300 new international students from over 40 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan region. This growth underscores UCD’s long-term commitment to the Centre’s education and innovation priorities, and our dedication to deepening connections between Ireland and the region.
Based in our Global Centre in Dubai, I lead a fantastic team of staff in Dubai and Nigeria, overseeing UCD’s engagement in a growing number of countries in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan region. Based out of our UCD Global Dubai Hub, Carl operates across the Greater Middle East and Africa (GMEA) region, with a focus on engaging and attracting global talent to UCD and Ireland. Supporting our Regional Director, and guiding our International Managers, the aim is to enrich our student body with talented youth from a diverse set of backgrounds; there are few better places to do that than from our GMEA region.
I specialize in student recruitment and serve as a trusted point of contact for individuals and institutions in the Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan. I assist students, parents, schools, and agents, providing valuable guidance throughout the application process for UCD.
