Connecting Ideas, People and Opportunities Across India and Beyond

Our presence in Delhi reflects UCD’s commitment to South Asia; to foster collaboration, support student journeys, and amplify impact across the region and Ireland.

About the Centre

UCD’s Global Engagement strategy includes five overseas Global Centres, and the South Asia Centre will anchor our ambition in one of the world’s fastest-growing higher education regions.

Delhi-based Global Centre serves as a regional hub—building long-term partnerships across academia, research, government, industry, civil society and community, supporting the University’s global ambitions and strategy.

Centre in Delhi facilitates engagement, convenes stakeholders, hosts events, and catalyse partnerships rather than delivers full teaching on site.

Our Growth Over 10 Years

Established over a decade ago, the UCD South Asia Global Centre has grown significantly to become one of UCD’s most active regional hubs. What began in 2014 with a team of two has expanded to a dynamic team of 12 professionals today, including a staff member based in Mumbai.

The Centre has played a pivotal role in connecting UCD with partners, institutions, and students across the region. In 2014, fewer than 100 South Asian students were enrolled at UCD. Today, more than 1,800 students from South Asia are studying at our Dublin campus, reflecting the Centre’s sustained engagement, support, and outreach over the last decade.

This growth underscores UCD’s long-term commitment to South Asia’s education and innovation priorities, and our dedication to deepening connections between Ireland and the region.

Watch our video on how UCD brings India and Ireland together through student journeys, global collaboration, and the South Asia connection. This video highlights experiences of students and alumni, showcasing UCD’s impact in the region.
