The new Mater Rock Wing was opened by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly on 20 April last.
The new wing houses 98 single rooms, including 16 new ICU beds and a new home for the National Isolation Unit. This wing is set to accept secondary transfer referrals from hospitals within the central Trauma network.
Mater is one of two designated Trauma centres in Ireland and the Mater Team is looking forward to the further development of trauma services.
