UCD Symphony Orchestra

About

The UCD Symphony Orchestra is a full-size orchestral ensemble that performs a broad repertoire of classical, romantic and 20th century works, in addition to concerts featuring movie scores and popular music. The orchestra gives 3/4 major performances annually, including one in the National Concert Hall and regularly performs throughout Europe, having visited Mannheim, Uppsala, Leuven and Strasbourg in recent years. The orchestra has also performed at the European Student Orchestra Festival in Belgium, and at the IAYO Festival of Youth Orchestras at the NCH.

Regular rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at 6.30–9pm, with extra sessions scheduled closer to concerts. The UCDSO can be taken as an elective and a number of scholarships are available.
