Sustainability is increasingly woven into public discourse, including the equitable transition to a more sustainable way of living. Working directly with communities across the globe, UCD researchers are honing in on the human, social and behavioural aspects of social transitions and demonstrating how these elements need to be embedded in concerns for equality, social justice and human flourishing.

Supporting food security and climate resilience in rapidly growing cities

Led by UCD researchers and Supported under the IRC-COALESCE initiative, SYNERGI (Socially Inclusive Edible Urban Green Infrastructure): Mozambique is supporting food security and climate resilience in two rapidly growing cities in Mozambique. Partnering with local civil society organisations to understand the necessary conditions to promote edible UGI in vulnerable urban communities, the project will strengthen educational institutional links and promote urban food production.

Landmark study exploring the lived experiences of children

Commissioned by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) Children’s School Lives Study (CSL) is conducted by UCD School of Education. Ireland’s first in-depth study of primary schools contributing to the development of national policy, it is informed by the voices of children, their families, their teachers and school leaders. The study explores the lived experiences of over 4000 children in 189 primary schools across Ireland from Spring 2019.
