Travel Advisories / Travel Updates

Travel to the Middle East

At this time, all persons planning travel to this region must closely monitor the (opens in a new window)Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Travel Advice.  'Do Not Travel' advisories are in place for a number of areas.

Colleagues are reminded of the following requirements under UCD’s Travel Policy:

  • Travel to a country / region subject to a DFA ‘Avoid Non-Essential Travel’ travel advisory, requires approval from your Head of School / Unit and your relevant UMT Member (College Principal / Vice President)
  • Travel to a country / region subject to a DFA ‘Do Not Travel’ travel advisory also requires approval from your Head of School / Unit and from the UMT (through your relevant UMT member)
  • All travel under the DFA advisories ‘Do Not Travel’ or ‘Avoid Non-Essential Travel’ must be risk assessed using the UCD High Risk Travel Risk Assessment Template

The University advises all persons to adhere to the DFA advice.

Travel to Jordan

At this time, the DFA are not advising against travel to Jordan, but travel advice should be closely monitored as the situation may change.  There may also be impacts across the region that could mean that flights are delayed, resulting in missed connections and people becoming stranded.

Given the degree of uncertainty at this time, the University is exercising the precautionary principle that only essential travel at a minimum be undertaken to Jordan.  As such, the requirements above will apply for any planned travel to this area.
