World Mental Health Day 2022

Page updated 2 August 2022

Thursday, 6 October 2022

To mark 2022’s World Mental Health Day, Culture and Engagement in partnership with our Employee Assistance Service provider, Spectrum.Life are presenting a series of 3 webinars on Thursday, 6 October. Each online webinar is one hour long and can be booked via the UCD Booking Centre link below. Following the webinar a recording will be published to the UCD Wellbeing Hub.

11.00am – Managing the Pace

This topic addresses a very common issue: managing the pace of daily life. However, instead of simply having a basic time management focus, this topic focuses on translating the best available scientific research into accessible and useful methods for making the most of the time you have.

Participants will learn about how their experience of time changes in different contexts and how to start to use their own internal clocks to make time start working for them.

1.00pm – Supporting People Experiencing Mental Health Difficulties

Mental health difficulties are more common than we think, and it’s likely that we know someone who struggles with their mental health. It’s estimated 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health difficulty in their lifetime, so knowing how best to support them will lead to better outcomes for that person.

This seminar will provide an understanding of general mental health issues, and how people can best support someone if they believe they are struggling. Often people with mental health issues find it difficult to come forward and seek help. This seminar will guide you through the process of helping someone who you are concerned about and could help someone on the road to recovery.

Further support and training is available through UCD’s Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing of Employees eLearning course

3.00pm – Optimise Your Mental Wellbeing

Our mental wellbeing is so important in todays society, and it often feels like our mental health comes second to the demands life puts on us. Our mood often takes the hit when life’s stressors come knocking, and stress, anxiety and depression are included in some of the primary causes of people missing work through illness.

This seminar will address how to optimise our mental wellbeing, regulate our mood, and will address the most common issues. The seminar will provide strategies to manage our mood day to day and inform us how to best deal with life stressors without getting stuck in a rut!
