About the Study

The Central Statistics Office is responsible for the collection, compilation, extraction and dissemination of high quality data for the statistical purposes of information relating to economic, social and general activities and conditions in the State. The CSO makes a range of official data available for redistribution to the academic and non-profit research sectors via ISSDA:


Files are currently available on CD only, and are provided in SPSS format.

Access restrictions

  • CSO data is available from ISSDA for non-commercial, social science research only. Requests for any other use of the data must be directed to the CSO.
  • Data requests for consultancy or commercial purposes should be directed to the CSO.
  • Census data (SAPS and COPSAR) is only available from ISSDA for academic use in Ireland.
  • If you are in any doubt as to the status of your request, please contact ISSDA or the CSO.

Requesting data

Requests for CSO data should be made using the CSO Contract provided with the datasets listed above. The relevant contract should be completed, signed, and sent to the address provided in the contact page.
