EDI Committee

Welcome to the School’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee webpage.

UCD prides itself on being Ireland’s Global University.  As a global university, we have a responsibility to foster diversity and inclusion so that UCD is experienced as a welcome and supportive environment for all students and staff.  Our School has an active and dynamic EDI Committee that aims to promote an inclusive and diverse work and study environment for all.

The SNMHS Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee aims to create a more inclusive environment in our School, by:

  • developing an understanding of inequalities experienced in our school, including but not limited to, those covered by the 10 equality grounds of the university: Age, Civil status, Disability, Family status including carer status, Gender (including gender identity), Traveller community membership, Ethnicity (race, skin colour, nationality or ethnic origin), Religion, Sexual orientation, and Socio-economic-status;
  • developing and promoting actions to address such inequalities by raising awareness, challenging discrimination and encouraging attitude and behaviour change towards a more inclusive culture.

The members of our committee are listed below.

We welcome ideas from students and staff and encourage anyone who is interested in being involved to (opens in a new window)contact us.

Our work is focused on creating an inclusive School culture where everyone is treated with respect, one where students and staff feel supported to express their identity without fear of bullying, harassment or other disrespectful behaviours.  We have established a very vibrant, dynamic EDI committee working on a broad range of issues.  We would very much like to have students contribute to the work of the committee.

A Certificate of Recognition will be awarded to any student who serves as a member of this committee. The term is for one year and meetings are held every 4-6 weeks.

If you or any of your colleagues are interested in getting involved, please contact Assoc. Prof. Sinem Uzar Ozcetin.

University College Dublin is committed to the promotion of an environment for work and study which upholds the dignity and respect of all members of the UCD community and which supports your right to study and/or work in an environment that is free of any form of bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment and sexual violence). A dedicated Dignity and Respect website has been established which provides a central hub to bring together information on the supports available if you are experiencing any of the issues mentioned.
