Congratulations to our six ENGAGE 2024 finalists  - Laura Murphy, Claire Hughes, Conor Hession, Ella Fouhy, Teerna Banerjee & Kate McKeever - and to all PhD students on our school's Public Science Communication module, led by Dr Craig Slattery, who participated in this year's ENGAGE seminars series. The Winner of ENGAGE 2024 is Claire Hughes. Huge congratulations to Claire who won the ENGAGE trophy for her presentation 'Undercover Allies: Cannabis Enhances Chemotherapy's Siege on Ovarian Cancer'. Supervisor Assoc Prof Antoinette Perry. Learn more about Claire's research here

Teerna Banerjee presenting ENGAGE 2024

In second place and Runner up for ENGAGE 2024 is Teerna Banerjee for her presentation 'Understanding how bad recycling causes cancer'. Supervisor Prof Jeremy Simpson.


The winner of Best Poster Presentation ENGAGE 2024 is Ciara McMahon for her research 'Getting to the root of a rare disorder – “CHD2 What do you really do?” Supervisor Dr Gary Brennan.

Ella Fouhy presents “Spot the difference” - A game changer in predicting preeclampsia.

Conor Hession presents 'Battling the Beast of Drug Resistant Yeast'.

Our host for ENGAGE 2024 was science communicator and broadcaster (opens in a new window)Barry Fitzgerald. Barry has a PhD in computational physics and has published three popular science books including "Secrets of Superhero Science" and "How to Build an Iron Man Suit".


Our three judges for ENGAGE 2024 were Science writer and contributor to The Irish Times Dr Claire O'Connell, filmmaker and owner of Apple Tart Productions, Slawomir Bracki, and Board member/Treasurer International Music Council UNESCO Dr Dorothy Conaghan.
