BA Humanities - Music, Film & Drama

Stage 1

The first year of the course builds students’ vocabulary and fluency in key analytical techniques and introduces students to the cultural and historical contexts of Music, Film and Drama.

Students select 3 option modules from a variety of Music, Drama and Film modules. Additionally, students select one elective module in Spring. 

Stage 2

Second year modules broaden the scope of inquiry, moving from central texts and practices to the representation of lesser known voices and issues.

Core Modules
  • HUM20040 Primary Source Research in the Humanities A: Exploring UCD Cultural Heritage Collections
  • MFD20010 Producing Music Film & Drama
Option Modules

Students select 2-3 modules each from the Music, Drama and Film studies. Additionally, they select 1-2 elective modules, worth 10 credits.  See the "View All Modules" section.  

Stage 3

  1. Students who remain on campus take 50 credits with no limitation in each of the Music, Film and Drama Option groups and 10 credits as electives.
  2. Students who are away for one trimester (on study abroad or internship) must complete 30 credits from the subject Options at Stage 3.
  3. Students who are away for the entire year (on year abroad or trimester abroad+internship) do not need to register for additional modules.
