The UCD Foundation for Italian Studies welcomes applications for a Collaborative Seed Funding Programme. The purpose of this programme is to provide seed funding to develop research projects/events in collaboration with at least one member of the UCD Italian Foundation and UCD Italian section: Paolo Acquaviva – (opens in a new window)paolo.acquaviva@ucd.ie; Marco Bellardi – (opens in a new window)marco.bellardi@ucd.ie; Mara Josi – (opens in a new window)mara.josi1@ucd.ie; Serena Laiena – (opens in a new window)serena.laiena@ucd.ie.

The funding can be directed towards – but not limited to – staff travel to UCD and maintenance, the organisation of workshops/conferences/seminars to be held at UCD, collaborative publication projects, and the draft of an application for a national or international research grant in collaboration with one or more UCD Italian staff members.

The UCD Foundation for Italian Studies aims to offer up to 3 grants per year. The value of each grant is a maximum of €1000.

Terms and Conditions of this funding call:

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must submit the downloadable 

  • Applicants must be research-active staff on a temporary, part-time or permanent contract or postdoctoral fellows at EU or non-EU institutions.
  • Applicants’ stay and/or the proposed research event must take place between 15 January 2026 and 15 December 2026.
  • The UCD Foundation for Italian Studies funding must be formally acknowledged on all publicity material, including cfps, programmes, websites and in publications arising from this funding.
  • Successful projects will feature as UCD Foundation for Italian Studies activities on the UCD Italian website.
  • Successful applicants will be required to submit a report outlining the programme’s achievements/deliverables.

Publication of results: 6 weeks after submission.

Applications should be sent to the Director of the UCD Foundation and Head of Italian Studies, Dr Marco Bellardi, as well as to the project/event collaborator(s) at UCD.
