Week of Italian Language in the World

Event 1 – Book Launch – Tuesday, 14 October, 6:30 pm @ Italian Institute of Culture

We will present Pantalei’s book Una lingua per cantare. Gli scrittori italiani e la musica leggera (2025). Interspersed with live music performances and in conversation with Marco Bellardi and Mara Josi, Giulio will present his latest publication, exploring how XX-century Italian writers have played a key role in some of the most beautiful pages of Italian pop music from the post-war years to the 1970s.

Event 2 – Songs and Stories –Wednesday, 15 October, 11:00 am @ UCD_Quinn building room 116

In a more informal, student-centred setting, Pantalei, with his guitar, will guide us through some of Italy’s most iconic songs – Bella ciao, Bang Bang, Generale, Cuccurucucù, Annarella – blending music, literature, and storytelling in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. If you fancy a 50-minute escape from your routine, come along!
