Introduction to Universal Design in UCD

‘Introduction to Universal Design in UCD’ is a one-hour self-paced piece of online training available on (opens in a new window)Brightspace and all personnel are automatically enrolled. The course will equip you with the essential competencies and knowledge to ensure that students experience an inclusive educational environment. The course is made up of three twenty minute sections:

  • University for All
  • Compliance and Legislation
  • Universal Design

Colleagues can undertake more in-depth training by completing the Digital Badges in Universal Design Beyond the Classroom or Teaching & Learning.

This key piece of training supports the University’s strategic commitments to Universal Design and make UCD a University for All. It has been developed by the University for All Project Team with collaboration from the Widening Participation Committee, UCD Equality Diversity & Inclusion and UCD People and Organisation Development. 

Whether you directly teach or interact with students or provide operational and management support to colleagues and the University, this training will:

  • Introduce you to key concepts and enable the institution to become more compliant with accessibility legislation.
  • Allow you to reflect on your work and proactively address accessibility and inclusion in your own roles.
