The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE Enniskillen), the Irish Equine Centre, the Irish National Stud, Teagasc, University of Limerick hosted the Foundations of Equine Health – Farm Smart in the Breeding Environment on 12th September at the Irish National Stud, which brought breeders, veterinary professionals and students together to explore best practice in equine breeding environments.

Participants enjoyed a day of expert presentations and practical demonstrations covering:

  • Neonatal foal care – from first feed to immune support

  • Mare nutrition and body-condition management to optimise fertility

  • Parasite control and biosecurity planning to reduce disease risk
