UCD School of Veterinary Medicine Celebrates Pride 2025
The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine marked Pride Month with a range of initiatives to celebrate and support our LGBTQIA+ community.
On 25th June, staff and students gathered for a Pride-themed coffee morning in the Veterinary Sciences Building. This informal event provided a space for connection, conversation, and celebration, which reinforced the importance of visibility, allyship, and inclusion within our school community.
During the last week in June a vibrant image display was hosted in the foyer of the Veterinary Sciences Building, featuring invited submissions from staff and students within the SVM, reflecting the theme “Show Us Yer Pride.” These contributions showcased a colourful and meaningful way to show what pride means to different people celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.
This event was supported by the Veterinary EDI Athena Swan Committee (VetEDIAS), as part of our ongoing commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Our goal is to ensure that the School of Veterinary Medicine is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
Speaking about the event, members of the organising group said:
It was great turn out and really highlighted the sense of community within the Vet School
A visitor commented on how welcoming the School feels as soon as you walk through the doors.
