ENVB40470 Practicum (Desk Study) Jan O/L

Academic Year 2018/2019

This module is for students of the MSc in Environmental Sustainability (Negotiated Learning)
programme. Those students intending to build towards a Masters Degree (90 credits) must take
either the ENVB40470 Practicum (Desk Study) or ENVB40520 Practicum (Research; lab/field). The
ENVB40470 Practicum - Desk Study module is not available to students registered to the Certificate, Diploma or Module to Masters programmes.
The objective of the module is to give students rigorous training in information sourcing, collation,
analysis and report writing. The ENVB40470 module will be totally desk-based and will involve a
systematic review of existing information and in some cases data analysis, and should ideally be
written up in the format of a journal review paper.
The desk study will be agreed with the Module Co-ordinator and another academic based on the
UCD campus. It will be undertaken off-campus by the student with regular communication with the
co-ordinator/supervisor.
