GEOG30460 US Foreign Policy

Academic Year 2019/2020

This module will focus on United States foreign policy in the post-World War II period. We will seek to better understand key events of this period, such as the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and the War on Terror. Theoretical concepts will be introduced to help us in this task. Geopolitics involves the study of politics, economics, and military strategy, which will all be considered in this course, from a critical perspective. Students are expected to attend lectures and do assigned readings.

By the end of this module, students should have:1. Analysed the main factors shaping American foreign policy.2. Critically examined key events in the post world war II period.3. Become aware of and applied key concepts and theories in geopolitics.
