The effective people management is one of the main levers that managers possess to accomplish their organizations’ strategic goals. During this module, we will discuss the strategic management of people, the changing nature of the HRM function, and the impact of different types of HRM strategies on organizations and employees.

Learning Outcomes:

Purpose: The effective people management is one of the main levers that managers possess to accomplish their organizations’ strategic goals. During this module, we will discuss the strategic management of people, the changing nature of the HRM function, and the impact of different types of HRM strategies on organizations and employees.

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to demonstrate clear knowledge and understanding of:
• The links between business strategy and HRM
• The roles activities of the HRM function
• How the HRM function contributes to strategic and operational change
• The employment relationship and legal framework for HRM activities
• HRM strategies for core practice areas including:
o Managing employer branding, recruitment and selection
o Managing performance
o Managing reward systems
o Managing talent
o Managing employee voice
o Managing employee engagement
