Why study Spanish?

Spanish is truly a world language, with more than 400 million native speakers in Spain, South and Central America, and the USA. Hispanic language and literature have been taught at UCD since at least 1884 and are now offered at all levels, from ab initio to doctoral. We also provide an independent degree programme in Portuguese and Lusophone studies.
