Best Practice in Post-Award Research Support

Background

Background

Research activity at UCD has grown significantly over the last 10 years, as has the complexity of our research projects. Support for post-award needs to adapt to this broadened scale and complexity.

The current lack of research support resources in Schools and Colleges means researchers must complete routine tasks post award. This results in a capacity challenge for Principal Investigators (PI).  The capacity to deliver the research activity is impacted by time spent on administrative projects. Furthermore, researchers must navigate complex silos due to the lack of streamlined and coherent supports that are clearly defined.

Project Objective

We are kicking off a project to scope how we best provide support post award, we have assigned a Project Manager to this project. Discussions have also taken place with Finance on costing.
