Lizanne Hutton - College & Curriculum Liaison Manager

Tell me about yourself?

My name is Lizanne Hutton, and I'm the manager of the Curriculum team in the Customer & Curriculum Operations unit in UCD Registry. We are a team of 7 who provide support to Schools and Colleges as Curriculum College Liaisons, as well as managing the Curriculum Management System and providing operational support for programme approvals and changes in the University.

What project are you working on? Tell us a little bit about it?

Programme approvals, changes and derogations from the Academic Regulations are currently managed via paper forms. This gives rise to many challenges for all faculty and professional staff involved, from lack of transparency to repetitious collection of information. The project will see these processes moving to an online environment on a phased basis, so that drafting, review and approval of proposals are completed and accessible in a single location (InfoHub). These changes will allow for streamlining of details collected on proposal forms, and utilisation of existing information already recorded on InfoHub to make for a more improved and intuitive experience for all involved.

What is your role on the project? What element are you working on?

I'm the Business Manager for the project. At the moment we're finalising new programme proposals (current PDARF2 and 3 forms).  The Curriculum Team Deputy Manager, Sarah Butler, and I have been working with the Steering Group and the EAG project team on final review of the new screens.

What do you enjoy most about working on this project?

Working with a wide range of School and College colleagues has been the most enjoyable aspect of this project. Conversations about people's current experiences of programme proposals and approvals have been hugely beneficial in shaping what is essentially a brand new system for a process that is so fundamental to the operations of the University. It hasn't been without its challenges due to its complexity and breadth, but our talented colleagues in EAG (Martina O'Keeffe, Aedemar Cooke, Derek Nolan and Bronwyn O'Callaghan) have been instrumental in making these improvements a reality.
