Alumni Mentoring Programme

Alumni Mentoring Programme

We’re delighted to be running our Alumni Mentoring Programme for new Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Nursing graduates again in 2017.  The next strand of the programme will commence in September 2017, and we are currently seeking Alumni from our Veterinary Medicine programme to act as MentorsThis initiative is designed to support new graduates, and following on from a positive first year of the Programme, we would really appreciate your assistance in making it a success.

The Alumni Mentoring Programme aims to link new graduates with working professionals of 3 to 10 years (approximately) standing who are able to offer support and advice in terms of personal, professional and career development.  Mentors and Mentees are matched based on information provided by alumni and students at the time of registration.

The following is a sample of some of the feedback received from our current Mentors:

“So far, so good - lovely Mentee and looking forward to helping her.”

“I think this is a great beneficial programme, and it is very nice to be set up with a mentee that is interested in the same field.”

“My experience has been good, I think a lot of the success depends on the mentee making contact/seeking advice…discussions to date have been relatively informal but have brought up a number of issues and concerns which I hope to have supported adequately.”

“I really enjoy being able to provide support and share wisdom gained through my own experiences during the transition from student to professional…I believe it is a great feature trying to pair mentors and mentees with the same area of interest…”

Registration for the 2017/2018 programme is now closed.  If you are interested in acting as a mentor to one of our new graduates in 2018/2019, please contact Dr Helen Graham, Communications Manager on (opens in a new window)helen.a.graham@ucd.ie for further information.
