Investigate the interaction of top-performing non-viral vectors for gene therapy within live system

Project

Project Title: Investigate the interaction of top-performing non-viral vectors for gene therapy within live system

Thematic Area: Rare Skin Diseases

Focus of Research:  RDEB

Group Team members: Zhonglei He, Yinghao Li

Overview: Various methods for delivery of therapeutic nucleic acids have been developed in clinical and many pre-clinical studies. However, the underlying mechanisms of non-viral delivery methods remain unclear. The project will focus on the development of novel polymer-lipid nanoparticles which possess both potent transfection efficacy and high biocompatibility. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms regarding targeted delivery, specific cell uptake and endosome escape will be investigated to complement the understanding of gene therapy and contribute to the rational design of non-viral vectors.
