Design and development of ECM-based material for wound healing applications

Project

Project Title: Design and development of ECM-based material for wound healing applications

Thematic Area: Wound Healing and Wound Care

Focus of Research:  Biomaterial for skin wound repair

Overview: ECM-based materials are a major biomaterial class providing a complex and bioactive scaffold for a wide range of skin wound healing applications. The project, in collaboration with Viscus Biologics, aims to design and develop a versatile ECM-based powder material. The versatility of the powder material relies on the use of the powder material: (1) alone to act as a scaffold promoting wound repair for relatively simpler wounds; (2) in combination with anti-microbial agent for skin burn wound repair; (3) to act as a stem cell carrier improving stem cell delivery and survival, targeting complex chronic wound repair applications.
