Late Submission of Coursework

Late Submission of Coursework

This policy sets out the steps to be taken where you know in advance that you will not be able to meet a submission deadline. The policy principles ensure that applications may be dealt with fairly and equitably, across the University.

If the following applies to you -

"I have missed a mid-semester essay deadline, mid-semester exam or a tutorial that is graded due to unanticipated exceptional circumstances and would like to extend the submission date",

Please find the best next step for you, below:

The form for applying for late submission of coursework is available on the policy website: Late Submission of Coursework Form.

You should check BrightSpace for module information or contact your school office(s) to check about submitting an application for late submission of coursework.

Evidence to support your circumstance (eg. Medical cert).

The requirement to attach written and verified supporting evidence for Late Submission of Coursework (2.23 in the policy) is waived for the remainder of the Spring Trimester.

Check the Brightspace information for your module, or contact the school administrator for full information on where to bring the application and supporting documents.

You should contact the school office as soon as possible, and they will advise you of dates.

When will I find out if my application is accepted?

The school office (or module co-ordinator)  will contact you shortly after you submit the application, to advise you of the outcome of your application, and if relevant will advise you of a new date to submit your essay. If your application is not accepted, a grade penalty will be applied (as per Policy on Late Submission of Coursework).

What happens next?

You should submit your coursework by the agreed new date.

Please contact us in the Social Sciences Office for more information. If you are experiencing personal difficulties, you may prefer to talk in private to one of your Student Advisers:
