The School’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Athena SWAN (Vet EDIAS) Committee organises many events and initiatives which support our agenda of promoting gender equality, diversity and inclusion for all faculty, staff and students. Vigil - Thursday 20 January 2022
In the wake of the tragic murder of Ashling Murphy and to stand against gender-based violence as a community, UCD Students’ Union and UCD staff came together and organised a vigil against gender-based violence on campus.
Faculty & Individual Mentoring Programmes
The School of Veterinary Medicine will be delivering two mentoring programmes within the School this year. The Faculty Mentorship programme will cater for three staff/student cohorts: early career stage faculty, postdoctoral students and postgraduate students. The Individual Mentorship Programme will cater for technical, nursing, professional and support staff.
International Men’s Day - 19 November 2021
International Men’s Day is celebrated annually on November 19. Its aim is to highlight the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities and to raise awareness of men’s wellbeing. One of the six pillars of International Men’s Day (IMD) is to improve gender relations and promote gender equality for both men and women. In this light, the theme for IMD 2021 was Better Gender Relations - Kevin Purves, Christopher Evans, Sourav Bhattacharjee, John Buckley, Tristan O’Mahony, Steve Gordon and Cliona Skelly (co-Chairs of the School’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee) all told us what this means to them: https://www.ucd.ie/vetmed/about/athenaswan/internationalmensday/
