     Creating time to destress or do something you enjoy, is a great way to maintain a positive mental health and enhance your overall wellbeing. This week, there are tons of exciting ways to be involved on campus and improve your mental health!

UCD Earth Week: Belfield Birds Walk

              Audience: Staff & Students

              Location: Start at Chess Garden

              Time: 12:00pm-1:00pm

With 8km of woodland walks and three lakes UCD is in a privileged position as Irelands most biodiverse campus with a wide variety of bird life. From our resident Mute Swan pair patrolling the main lake the elusive Jay or Sparrow hawk in the woodlands and migratory visitors just as the Curlew and Willow Warbler UCDs birdlife is truly a treat. UCD Get Sun Smarter

              Location: O’Brien Centre for Science- East

Join us for our 2nd annual ‘Get Sun Smarter’ awareness event 11am – 2pm on 9th & 10th April in the O’Brien Centre for Science UCD. This free event is open to all UCD students and staff and will include: The latest Melanoma research findings from Systems Biology Ireland Charles Institute and Conway Institute researchers with a microscope demo of what melanoma looks like up close. Information and guidance on how to look after your skin in the sun from the Irish Skin Foundation.  A fun way to check your faces previous history of sun exposure courtesy of the Irish Cancer Society. UCD Walk and Talk:

              Audience: Students

              Location: Wind and Water Sculpture, at top of the lake

              Time: 1:05pm-1:50pm

The walks are a great way to promote positive physical and mental health. The walks are enjoyable in themselves though may act as a catalyst for students to talk about stresses and issues of concern. Mind, Body & Soul is a Free, Wellbeing Festival being held April 9th-11th in UCD. The event aims to promote mental wellbeing and advertise student supports in a fun, relaxed and stress-free environment.

UCD Get Sun Smarter: Lecture by Dr. Patrick Ormonde

Relay For Life

              Audience: Staff & Students

              Location: Devlin Pitch

              Time: Wed. April 10th at 1:00pm-Thurs. April 11th at 10:00pm


Relay for Life is a 24 hour fundraiser in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Teams enter and fundraise in advance of the event then on the day we all come together on Devlin Pitch in UCD for 24 hours of fun and laughter while remembering our motto to ‘Celebrate Remember and Fight Back’; Celebrate those who have survived cancer remember those who have battled it and lost and fight back against a disease that right now will affect 1 in 2 of us at some point in our lives. There are guest speakers music and dance performances free food and drink a silent disco a candlelit ceremony morning yoga themed laps and much much more! Heartfulness Meditation

              Audience: Staff & Students

              Location: C117 Health Sciences

              Time: 5:30pm-6:00pm

Practicing Heartfulness helps us experience the wisdom of our heart and in doing so we learn to let go of fear and to trust ourselves and our intuition. We can also become calmer clearer more effective and balanced. Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years and its benefits are well documented. These include a reduction in stress as well as improvements in health concentration and focus. UCD Student Adviser Anna Scully with UCDSU Welfare Officer Melissa Plunkett invite you to Heartfulness Meditation Wednesdays at 5.30pm 6pm in C117 UCD Health Sciences Centre.
