Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in Psychology

The School of Psychology UCD Equality Diversity Inclusion & Athena SWAN (EDIP-AS) Committee

Our School is committed to cultivating a culture where all students and staff feel welcome, respected and included. We wish to build a School that holds equality, inclusion and diversity (EDI) at the heart of all that we do. We recognise that EDI is everyone's responsibility and that the School’s EDIP-AS committee will support the School community in cultivating an inclusive environment across the range of our activities.

We do this as part of UCD’s vision to be a national and international leader in EDI. UCD prides itself on being Ireland’s Global University. As a global university, we have a responsibility to foster equality, diversity and inclusion so that UCD is experienced as a welcoming and supportive environment for all students and staff.

The EDIP-AS committee will advance EDI by:

Maintaining focus and commitment to address the inequalities experienced in our School, the University and in wider society including but not limited to, those covered by the 10 equality grounds of the university: Age, Civil status, Disability, Family status including carer status, Gender (including gender identity), Traveller community membership, Ethnicity (race, skin colour, nationality or ethnic origin), Religion, Sexual orientation, and Socio-economic-status.

We will continue to address the gender and intersectional inequalities in our School by challenging ourselves to achieve an Athena SWAN Silver Award in 2025.
