Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics 2023

The Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics is a two-week programme taking place in person only at the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine from Monday 24 July to Friday 4 August 2023. The programme coordinator is Professor Mark Crowe. You need to bring your own laptop (no Chromebook).

The draft timetable is available here. The two main course lecturers are Assoc Prof Gavin Conant and Dr Rafael Guerrero, both from North Carolina State University.

Entry requirements

All applicants - whether UCD research students or externals - must have completed an undergraduate degree in Agriculture, Life Sciences or Veterinary Medicine.

UCD research students

Please email sylvie.done@ucd.ie before Friday 9 June to register (include your student number), and the programme coordinator will review your application. You will be registered to the module VET40470 Bioinformatics but will not get the Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics (and will not have to pay the course fee). You will need your supervisor's permission to attend.

Non UCD candidates

Please apply here before Friday 9 June, using the programme code D058. There is a €50 non-refundable application fee and the course fee is €1,950. The programme coordinator will review applications. If you are offered a place, the full amount (€1,950) will be required when accepting the place.

Assessment

A two-hour examination (part 1 short answer questions 1h and part 2 MCQ 1h) will take place on Brightspace (virtual learning environment) the last day of the course, Friday 4 August 2023.
