Welcome to our Psycholinguistics Lab in the School of Education at the University College Dublin.

PhD Bilingual Education: This structured PhD aims at recruiting doctoral students in the field of Bilingualisms and Bilingual Education. It has an international reputation, and graduates are currently employed as academics in leading universities, as teachers, as school principals, and as education policy makers and innovators in the public and private sector.

UCD Education Micro-credential Module: 

EDUC10320 Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education (SLATE)

Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education 10 credits – NFQ 9 – EFQ 7- Online Module – From January 2026 – 12 weeks duration

The main aim of this continuous professional development module consisting of six units, is to provide both trainees and more experienced language teachers with a better understanding of the interface between theory, research and practice in second language learning and teaching. In this teacher education module, an analysis of how the principles derived from theory and research can be applied to day-to-day language teaching issues is provided. The idea is to discuss and examine, among participants, an effective, cognitive and evidence-based language teaching pedagogy based on analysis of the nature and role of language, language learning, grammar, input, communication and effective development and use of language tasks.
