Leuven Institute for Advanced Study (LIAS) - Junior fellowships on ‘Water: scarcity and flooding’ LIAS – part of KU Leuven in Belgium - invites applications for visiting junior fellows for the project ‘Water: scarcity and flooding’ from 6 May – 30 May 2024. The fellowships are intended for advanced PhD students, postdocs or junior faculty members from Una Europa universities. Applicants will be able to participate in expert workshops, discussions and lectures as well as actively engage with the LIAS community. LIAS covers all travel and hotel costs for junior fellows for a stay up to 14 days in Leuven (up to a maximum of €1,000). |

Funding for early career researchers in the Una Europa alliance Una Europa invites doctoral students and early-career researchers to this online information session providing an overview of national research funding opportunities in Ireland, the UK and Poland. Research managers from University College Dublin, University of Edinburgh and Uniwersytet JagielloĊski w Krakowie will offer an insight into eligibility criteria, funding duration, conditions, and specific details of various funding calls. |

Una Europa @ the UCD Festival Una Europa, in association with the Dublin European Institute at UCD and the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, present an interdisciplinary panel discussion on AI: 'The future is now: Artificial intelligence, ethics, and you'. The new AI Act is the first legal framework for artificial intelligence in Europe. What are the ethical and legal implications for our society? Una Europa General Assembly at UZH (Zurich) The next Una Europa General Assembly will be hosted by Universität Zürich (UZH) in Switzerland. Over three days, Una Europa Self-Steering Committees, Clusters, Working Groups and project teams will come together to learn and exchange knowledge in a series of working meetings and events. Una Europa One Health Summer School Dive into interdisciplinary learning, connect with fellow researchers, and explore the nexus of human, animal, and environmental health at the One Health Summer School, hosted by Lammi Biological Research Station at University of Helsinki (Finland), from 24 to 28 June 2024. Up to two UCD students will be awarded places on the programme, based on a competitive application process. Students who are offered places will be advised on how to apply for funding to cover travel costs. |

Seed Funding Call 2024 The Una Europa Seed Funding Call 2024 invites early-career researchers of any discipline to apply for funding to kick-start long-term collaboration between alliance partner universities. Una Europa Summer School - Sustainability in communication and education The University of Bologna (Italy) hosts this summer school aimed at engaging PhD students from different scientific backgrounds on the theme of sustainability in communication and education. With a transdisciplinary approach and focus on the improvement of soft skills, the goals of the summer school are the strengthening of a critical, theoretical framework regarding the concept of sustainability and the development of strategies and capabilities related to sustainability education and communication. |

Frontiers of Modern Physics - Leiden University Summer School Leiden Institute of Physics is offering Una Europa members (including UCD students) a discount on its 8-day physics summer school. Through seminars by renowned physicists and visits to research labs, participants will get a unique peek into physics research at Leiden, from quantum matter and optics to biological & soft matter physics and cosmology. The programme is aimed at BSc Physics students in their penultimate year who are considering applying to the MSc Physics degree at Leiden University. Price for Una Europa university students – 300 euro (reduced from normal price of 390 euro). |
