PPI: Where WE all matter 

The second National PPI Festival will take place from 1-31 October 2023, showcasing and celebrating the incredible progress in public and patient involvement (PPI) in Irish research. 

Below you will find details on events hosted by PPI Ignite Network @ UCD. We encourage you to register and join us for a celebration of public and patient involvement in research.

PPI support for Early Career Researchers

October 10th is all about the Early Career Researcher. PhD students and postdocs are invited to a day to upskill, learn and plan for public and patient involvement in research.

Young Adults, Mental Health & Homelessness

To fully understand the needs of young adults experiencing homelessness, Dublin Simon collaborated with young adults using their services and with UCD researchers in a process called co-design. 

This exhibition displays photographs taken by young people aged between 18-24 years experiencing homelessness in Dublin. The conversations prompted by these photos identified complex challenges that young homeless people face, and that impact their mental health and wellbeing. Through this process, a prototype of a mental health service to meet the needs of young homeless people.

Patient Consultation Workshop

17th October 2023

Precision Oncology Ireland are looking to speak with cancer patients, survivors, advocates and anyone else whose lives have been affected by cancer. We want you to make your voices heard by attending this engagement workshop, working alongside our researchers and contributing your lived experiences to the development of our programme. Ultimately, you will be helping to shape the next 5 years of cancer research in Ireland.
This event will be held in-person on UCD campus, Tuesday 17th October from 12:30 - 2PM. Lunch will also be provided.

Voice & Agency 4 All Seminar Series: Involving people experiencing homelessness in research

In the latest of our Voice & Agency 4 All seminar series we invite you to UCD James Joyce library for this seminar highlighting research involving homeless service-users in research and a discussion of the associated benefits and challenges.

Followed by an optional tour of the photo exhibition in UCD Library "Young Adults, Mental Health & Homelessness" at 12pm.

PPI and Breastfeeding

24th October 2023

Researchers from the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems invite you to the (opens in a new window)Kevin Barry Gallery, University College Dublin from 11.00am-12.30pm on 24th October for a panel discussion of implications, education, practice and research related to a PPI study of breastfeeding knowledge, practice and attitudes in general practice.

Building PPI relationships: Tools to help patient & community organisations address PPI capacity issues

Requests to link researchers with communities are growing. Let's make PPI collaboration more sustainable in practice.

We worked with patient and community organisations to create tools to reduce associated burdens these organisations face due to the growth of PPI.  This event will give an overview of those tools followed by a panel discussion with patient and community organisations who have co-designed and used these resources.
