The College of Social Sciences and Law Research Committee, in association with the Geary
Institute and UCD Research organised an Inspiring Research Leaders Lunch Time Series
for academic staff. Commenting on the sessions, College Vice Principal for Research,
Innovation and Impact Professor Dympna Devine “these sessions bring together colleagues
across our College who have been successful in securing grants across diverse funding
programmes and provide researchers with an opportunity to learn about these projects and
the key insights and experiences colleagues have in relation to these funding schemes and
relevant processes”.
The first session, which took place in November, featured three ERC awardees who have
secured Advanced, Consolidator and Starting ERC's: Professor Joanna Bruck (School of
Archaeology); Professor Kath Browne (School of Geography) and Associate Professor Amy
Strecker (Sutherland School of Law) who presented on their journeys to success.
Speakers at the second session held on the 21 st February focused on Horizon Europe:
Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Societies funding. The session included recent Horizon
Europe awardees presenting on their journeys to success; Professor Kath Browne (School
of Geography), Professor Ron Davies (School of Economics) and Assistant Professor
Doreta Szelewa (School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice). Máire Coyle from
