Research Scientist, UCD School of Computer Science, Temporary 20 months

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist within  UCD School of Computer Science.
AGEO is a project funded under the EU Interreg Atlantic Programme. The overall objective of this programme is to implement solutions to answer to regional challenges in the fields of innovation, resource efficiency, environment and cultural assets, supporting regional development and sustainable growth.
Within this broad objective of AGEO seeks to launch a number of Citizens’ Observatory Pilots in the area of geohazards. AGEO seeks to engage the local communities to actively participate in risk preparedness and monitoring and to incorporate local capabilities into risk management systems.
UCD is seeking to recruit a Research Scientist to assist with the design and delivery of the AGEO Citizen Observatory Platform that will facilitate citizen recording of geohazards via their mobile phone. This platform will be utilised in the delivery of the AGEO pilots and will route geotagged annotated images from citizens into a back end database. The AGEO citizen observatory platform will also provide mechanisms by which citizens can view collated geohazard data via a map-based interface.
The project will necessitate designing extensible code and ensuring interoperability with existing third party applications and services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity of European travel to project meetings.
Salary Range: €50,000 - €55,000 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
