UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 2, UCD School of Computer Science, Fixed term post until 15 July 2022

The purpose of the role is to deliver part of the research of the Huawei-funded project entitled “Assurance Cases for Trustworthy Systems and Processes”. The aim of this project is to investigate Assurance Cases for the trustworthiness of ICT systems and its processes of full life cycle, including general model and methodology, involved standards, argumentation methods, typical application cases, constraints. The project aims to build general models of assurance cases and methodologies for constructing assurance cases, by considering the common assets of ICT systems and the common threats faced by ICT systems. It also aims to analyse argumentation methods to support the claims of assurance cases. The project will then deliver guidance and methods to construct assurance cases for a number of trustworthiness properties.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will carry out the following duties specific to this project:

  1. Build general models of assurance cases and methodologies for constructing assurance cases, considering the common assets of ICT systems and the common threats/failures/hazards/privacy violations faced by ICT systems

  2. Investigate the argumentation of assurance cases, output the suggested methods of arguments and analyze the advantages and constraints

  3. Develop case study of the above two work-items, generate assurance cases by verification of security properties (which will be decomposed into different aspects of properties) in architecture level, and finally provide guidance and methods to construct assurance cases for other properties of trustworthiness.

This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

Salary range: €45,942 – €50,030 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
