UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 # 015329

UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1

Position Summary

The obesity epidemic currently affects 650 million people worldwide. Chronic low-grade inflammation is a classic hallmark of obesity that increases the risk of numerous life-limiting complications including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH-liver disease), cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and certain cancers. Biomarkers to identify patients with obesity complications are a major unmet need, particularly for NASH. The aim of this project is to develop machine learning based risk stratification models to identify obesity risk subtypes and specifically individuals at risk of developing NASH.

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

Competition closes:  25th November 2022
