UCD Research Fellow # 013951

UCD Research Fellow

Position Summary

The project aims to develop models, methods, algorithms, and software for optimization of the energy and performance of applications in modern highly heterogeneous and hybrid systems, used in HPC, Internet of Things, Smart Cities, and many other current and emerging digital platforms. The mainstream approach to energy optimization of computing is to optimize the execution environment rather than applications running in the environment. Our algorithms and methods will optimize applications, not executing platforms, aiming to find all their energy/performance Pareto-optimal configurations. The expected improvements in energy and performance even for highly optimized state-of-the-art applications can be multi-fold. The methods and algorithms will be applied to a wide range of applications and platforms.

The purpose of the role is to deliver a specific research project. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement and render themselves competitive for tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry.

Competition closes:  14th December 2021
