Clinical Innovation Seminar Takes Place in the Mater Hospital

Following the opening of an in-hospital Knowledge Transfer (KT) Office at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital last year, a clinical innovation seminar, organised by NovaUCD and the Pillar Centre for Transformative Healthcare took place today at the hospital.

The theme of the seminar was ‘From Concept to Product’ was to discuss clinical innovation and the wider Irish innovation ecosystem with healthcare professionals at the Mater Hospital.

Speakers included;

Dr Ena Walsh, Case Manager, Life Sciences, who spoke about the supports available through NovaUCD and the NovaUCD ecosystem;

Dr David Corr, CEO, Atturos, a UCD spin-out company, who spoke of his experiences of developing a business and finding the value proposition; 

Dr Eimear Gleeson, Atlantic Bridge, who gave an introductory explanation on venture capital investment to support entrepreneurial endeavours; and

Mr Seamus Morris, Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon and co-founder, Latch Medical, a UCD spin-out company, who spoke of his experiences in clinical innovation and how clinicians can get involved, and discussed the opportunities available through the in-hospital KTO.
