We are at war: The rise of expert knowledge

UCD School of Sociology's Dr Lea David has recently had an article published in the (opens in a new window)Irish Journal of Sociology (IJS).  The article is titled We are at war: The rise of expert knowledge.

Abstract:

The coronavirus pandemic has brought to the fore a war within and between disciplines. A war centred upon using expert knowledge as a means of establishing authority and trust. Here, I briefly discuss why 'knowledge', presented almost exclusively as qualitative data, controls the narrative of the pandemic, leaving aside disciplines that cannot utilise the 'numbers talk'.
