Sociology Seminar Series - Mastoureh Fathi | Photos of Home: Young Migrant Men's Representation of Domestic Spaces in Ireland

Dr Mastoureh Fathi delivered the third Sociology Seminar Series lecture of the year with her disussion of her research on how migrant men create homes in Ireland.  The research is focusing on the experience of refugees and international students and uses interviews and photography as part of the methodology.  The photographs are produced by the subjects themselves.

Dr Mastoureh Fathi is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow at Institute of Social Science Research in 21st Century at UCC. Her research revolves around everyday experiences of migration with a focus on intersectionality, gender and class in migration processes, identity, home-making and belonging in diaspora and the importance of objects in displacement.  In September 2020 she will join the UCD School of Sociology as a faculty member.

An exhibition of the images captured as part of this research will be held upon completion of the project. The subjects will be invited to present their own images.
