College Offices

Each course (programme in UCD) is supported by a College Office. They are your first point of contact if you need academic advice or pastoral support. They are there to help you with any concern or query relating to your degree programme. Some of the key areas your College Office can help you with are:

  • Registration queries
  • Academic Programme advice
  • Extenuating circumstances/medical certificates
  • Withdrawals from/re-admission to programmes
  • Referral to Student Adviser/academic staff/Disability Support Services, etc.

Contact details for your College Office can be found on the College Office web page.

Graduate Schools

Each College has its own Graduate School which coordinates the graduate education for all the Schools in that College. Contact details for each Graduate School can be found on the Graduate Studies website.

Student Advisers

Student Advisers provide support for all students, particularly first years, during their time at university. They are located in all five Colleges and are either attached to particular programmes or to specific groups of students. They work closely with administrative and academic staff as well as with the Chaplains and other support staff.

From simple requests for information to more confidential and serious matters, your Student Adviser will give you the time and space to talk things through.

Complaints/Appeals

If you are unhappy with our response to a complaint/appeal then you can make a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman is fair, independent, and free to use.

The best way to contact the Ombudsman is by:

  • Clicking on the ‘Make A Complaint’ link at (opens in a new window)www.ombudsman.ie
  • Or writing to: Office of the Ombudsman, 6 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, D02 W773
  • Or calling the Ombudsman on 01 639 5600 if you have any queries or if you need help making your complaint.

Please note that the Ombudsman cannot investigate complaints about academic judgement. For more information on academic judgment please review the Ombudsman’s factsheet on education services which is available on its (opens in a new window)website.  You can also contact the Office of the Ombudsman.

Please note the Ombudsman process is not an appeal of a decision but an investigation of the administrative actions taken by our office in our interactions with you and in delivering the services we provide.
