Call for new members. Get involved

UCD is committed to supporting diversity, equality and inclusion (EDI) in the University. If you would like to become involved in EDI initiatives and become a member of UCD’s EDI Subgroups please complete an expression of interest form for any of sub-groups.  Further information on EDI initiatives can be found on the EDI website and in our EDI Annual Reports. Read more about the EDI sub - groups here.

Please ensure that you discuss participation on the group with your line manager in advance of submitting an expression of interest due to the time commitment involved in being on a sub-group including attending meetings and supporting the implementation of initiatives. Sub-groups will normally meet on a quarterly basis.

A new UCD EDI Neurodiversity Subgroup is being established to oversee the development and implementation of an action plan based on recommendations from the recently published research report, Making UCD a Neurodiversity Friendly Campus Research Report. The action plan will be prepared for submission to UMT for approval. This group will be responsible for the following:

  • Translate report recommendations into a three-year action plan
  • Engagement with key stakeholders and action owners
  • Research best practice nationally and internationally to inform actions relating to neurodiversity in the university sector
  • Prioritisation of actions to be delivered
  • Oversee the implementation of the action plan.

Expressions of interest from colleagues to become members of the group are currently being sought. It is essential that this group consists of individuals who will bring different perspectives as well as lived experiences, skills and expertise to guarantee that the work of the group aligns with the objectives set out.

UCD is seeking members to continue the progressive work of the UCD Disability Subgroup to date and join the group. Members of this group will play a vital role in strategically supporting Disability inclusion in UCD and to make recommendations and progress actions that aim to make UCD an equitable, supportive and inclusive environment to work and study for people with a disability

Anti-Racism and Cultural Awareness sub-group

The EDI Anti-Racism and Cultural Awareness sub-group has been established to prepare a data and research informed action plan to support the achievement of race and ethnicity equality in the University based on the recommendations in the UCD Race and Ethnicity Equality report. The group is responsible for identifying and implementing strategies and best practice with regards to race and ethnicity and keeping abreast of national and international developments. Through the EDI Anti-Racism and Cultural Awareness, the University commits to working collaboratively with students, employees and the wider community to create an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can reach their full potential.

Expressions of interest from colleagues to become members of the group are currently being sought. It is essential that this group consists of individuals who will bring different perspectives as well as lived experiences, skills and expertise to guarantee that the work of the group aligns with the objectives as set out. The group includes student and employee representatives as well as representatives from across the University and other equality grounds. Members will be appointed through both expressions of interest and nominations.

Expression of Interest (co-chair)

Women@STEM in UCD is seeking a new co-chair. Chaired by Dr Alessia Paccagnini and Dr Catherine Mooney, who has stepped down from her role as co-chair to take up the appointment of Vice Principal for EDI for the College of Science. This group is seeking expressions of interest from colleagues to become co-chair of the group with Assistant Professor, Alessia Paccagnini.
