International Women's Day 2023 #EmbraceEquity

Marked annually on 8 March, International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and the theme for 2023 is #EmbraceEquity

International Women’s Day Training and Support Bundle

For International Women's Day 2023 EDI are delighted to present a bundle of sessions aimed at women on topics like leadership, imposter syndrome, resilience, self-advocacy and more, delivered with a series of workshops and a 4-part webinar in collaboration with DCM Learning.

On 1st March, new parents and those returning from maternity/adoptive/surrogacy leave can join the “Maternity Matters – Return To Work” session, which will give practical tools and tactics to make a confident return to work. You can register on the EDI Training & Events Calendar

The DCM Learning “Women in Leadership Mini Programme” includes virtual sessions on 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th March. The 4-part programme aims to actively narrow the gap critical to career advancement, giving attendees vital leadership skills.

Events and initiatives across the University

UCD Research has prepared a showcase of inspiring female experts across a broad range of disciplines and career levels at UCD. Women who are not only making waves in their own field but who have also dedicated themselves to mentoring and championing other women in education and academia. Learn about some examples of feminist research by female and male academics at UCD, creating impact in the areas of ‘Tackling Inequality’ and ‘Improving the Lives of Women and Girls.’

Equality and Equity in Irish Built Environment Professions

Join us for an International Women’s Day Event, Wednesday 8th March 2023, 17.30 -19.00, Studio 3 Planning and Environmental Policy Building, Richview, UCD

The Presidents/Chairs of all the Irish Built Environment Professional bodies associated with the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy are currently Women! For this event we are delighted to be joined by:

  • Valerie Brennan Chair of the Royal Town Planning Institute, Ireland
  • Bernadette O’Connell, President of the Irish Landscape Institute
  • Charlotte Sheridan, President of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland
  • Juliet Ryan, Secretary of the Irish Planning Institute

We will present some research on Equality in the Irish Architecture and Planning Professions and will host a roundtable to discuss and reflect on women's careers and achievements, the barriers that still exist for women in the built environment professions and how we ensure more women progress to the highest levels in the Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture professions. 

The presentation and roundtable discussion will be followed by a wine reception.
