WALL-E (2008)
Followed by a discussion with Dr Naomi McAreavey (AI Futures project lead) and Dr Harvey O'Brien, initial curator of the AI Futures (Past) sci-fi film series.
In a future where Earth has been abandoned due to overwhelming pollution, a small waste-collecting robot named WALL-E, inadvertently embarks on a journey that could change the fate of humanity. Tasked with cleaning up the planet, WALL-E discovers a new purpose when he meets EVE, a sleek probe sent to find signs of life. Together, they travel across the galaxy, rekindling hope for Earth's future. The notion of exploration is considered in WALL-E and encourages the viewer to consider Earth and its surroundings to present a post-apocalyptic view of time and space.
