Brendan Kane Digital Cultures Seminar

Early Modern Irish in a digital age

Join us for the next #DigitalCulturesUCD Seminar Series Event "Léamh.org, Greenhouse Studios and lessons learned in constructing sustainable digital humanities projects" with Professor Brendan Kane from (opens in a new window)UConn. This talk will be held on 18th February @ 4pm.

This talk is intended to address some of the challenges, possibilities and lessons learned in the course of creating and sustaining collaborative digital humanities projects. Focus will be on practical, general concerns such as partnership building, ownership of and credit for content, legibility for tenure and promotion, project growth and development, and funding. Examples will be drawn from three disparate cases:

  1. (opens in a new window)Léamh.org: a web-based tool for teaching, learning and researching in Early Modern & Classical Irish
  2. (opens in a new window)Greenhouse Studios: an ongoing concern focused on promoting collaborative and multi-modal scholarly communication
  3. (opens in a new window)Democracy and Dialogues Initiative: a program that organizes public dialogues on controversial subjects and provides facilitator training

The talk will be informal with the goal that most time will be spent engaging participants' questions.

The event will take place on Zoom via (opens in a new window)this link.
