The application process for the internship is straightforward:

  1. Internships specific to the BA Humanities programme will be advertised by the internship manager on the Careers Connect Portal where each internship will be described and a job spec provided.
  2. Students apply with a CV and a cover letter. Students should apply for no more than 3 internships.
  3. UCD staff have no role in deciding who is successful in this process. Applications will be reviewed by the internship host who will nominate a successful candidate and make an internship offer to that candidate.
  4. Some hosts may require an interview with prospective interns.
  5. Students are expected to accept the first internship offer received. If you decide to reject the offer, there is no guarantee that another employer will offer you an internship.
  6. All students must respond to communication in a timely manner. All students must inform the Internship Manager and company of their decision to accept or reject an offer as soon as possible, but generally within one week. It is not acceptable to delay making a decision for any longer in the hope of receiving a ‘better offer’. Delaying also impacts on the possibility of other students getting offers.
  7. Students who need guidance on the acceptance of an offer, should contact the internship & Employability Manager ((opens in a new window)artshumanities.internships@ucd.ie) for advice.
  8. Students must read, commit and sign the Student Internship Acceptance Form and Statement of Internship.
  9. Students must behave ethically and professionally in dealing with employers, including honouring commitments to fulfill internship positions. Once an internship offer has been accepted by a student, the student is obliged to honour the agreement. A student must not apply, attend an interview, or accept an offer for any other internship.
  10. Students who are unsuccessful in their first application in the first trimester, may apply again in the second trimester.
