Self-Sourced Internships

Self-Sourced Internships

Students may opt to source their own internships with hosts outside of the list of pre-approved internship providers listed in the Internships listing on (opens in a new window)MyCareer. However, all self-sourced internships must have the approval of the Governing Board. As a first step, students should contact the Internship & Employability Manager, at (opens in a new window)artshumanities.internships@ucd.ie, if they wish to self-source with a company. This is important: it is vital to communicate your intentions with the Internship & Employability Manager to know if there is already an internship being negotiated with the hosts to which you are applying.

It is important that self-sourced internships meet the Learning Outcomes of the Academic Internship module

To submit an application for a self-sourced internship to the Governing Board, students should (opens in a new window)complete all sections of this form and upload their job description and official offer letter from their host company.

Students intending to self-source an internship for trimester 1 (autumn), must submit their supporting documentation for approval by the Governing Board no later than 31 May. Those who wish to self-source for trimester 2 (spring), must submit their documentation for approval no later than 30 November.
